When you fall in love, the world feels new. It's as if everything is happening for the first time. That's why we love photographing weddings. Each wedding has us falling in love over and over again—it reminds us that there is wonder and mystery in this shared life we all build together. We could say so many wonderful things about Samantha and Ed’s stunning Lake Michigan engagement session at Oval Beach. But we first need to mention their adorable puppy, Carl. We absolutely love dogs and encourage all of our couples to bring their fur-babies to their engagement shoots with us. Even better, bring them to your wedding day! But of all the dogs we have recently met this summer, we feel especially in love with Carl. Maybe because he is a similar breed to our doggies or maybe it was his shy and docile demeanor. Whatever it was, it was love at first sight with sweet little Carl. We absolutely loved Samantha’s story. It was several months at Samatha’s work when a coworker learned that Carl was her dog and not her fiancé. That is how affectionately she talks about him!

Carl aside, Samantha and Ed’s love story fit perfectly for a Lake Michigan engagement session. Originally from Traverse City, the lakeshore fits their personalities like a glove. Sam and Ed are both warm, inviting, and carefree. We couldn’t be more excited for their wedding next summer in Traverse City.
