It was a warm summer day for this sophisticated Grand Rapids Wedding. Emotions were high for Diana and Riley’s wedding day. These two are some of the nicest people we have ever met and are both so kind and thoughtful.

Riley and Diana met at Michigan State University during welcome week of their freshmen year. They bumped into each other at a party and hit it off. They had fun together, but since it was only their first couple of days at college, they decided to part ways. It wasn’t until their sophomore year that they started to talk again. Diana sent a picture to some of her friends and accidentally sent it to her now-husband instead of her (female) friend Riley. The rest is history, as destiny would have it because of that accidental message.

Their wedding ceremony was at the beautiful St. Alphonsus Parish. Shelly’s Designs Florist created magnificent floral statements for the church interior and altar, adding even more refinement to the already exquisiteness of the church. After these two said “I do,” their guests lined up outside the church doors to cheer and celebrate, as a horse and carriage were awaiting them to take a stroll down the street.

Before heading to Frederik Meijer Gardens, we snapped a few photos outside the church. This romantic garden makes for perfect wedding portraits in Grand Rapids. Diana’s bridesmaids wore emerald green dresses designed by Amsale and Yara. Riley and his groomsmen all wore black suits from Suit Supply, finishing their dapper look with bowties. Diana wore a stunning Martina Liana wedding gown. Diana’s A-line dress features a plunging V-neckline and adorns with beautiful floral motifs that cohesively flow to the back of her dress. She wore a cathedral-length veil and a classy heel from Antonio Melani to complete her beautiful and elegant look. Everyone looked amazing for this sophisticated Grand Rapids wedding.

Arriving at Cascade Country Club, we were amazed how this Grand Rapids wedding venue makes you feel like you escaped to the Italian countryside. Diana’s family is Italian, and rather than taking the family to Italy, their wedding planner, All Buttoned Up Events, brought Italy to Michigan. The reception space was transformed into a modern interpretation of an old-world traditional Italian wedding.

The wedding planner and staff at All Buttoned Up converted this lovely venue to mimic an Italian location for all to enjoy. Greenery florals were immensely dispersed throughout the venue’s interior, along with a wooden trellis intertwined with trailing vines. Luxe gold chandeliers, elevated floral stands, and tableware adorned the decoration embellishments to help create the old-world Italian vibe.

Their first dance was to Perfect by Ed Sheeran, featuring Andrea Bocelli. We loved the Italian touch of this song. Watching them dance to this song was special because we danced to the same tune at our wedding, only without Andrea Bocelli. Several family members gave toasts, which got plenty of laughs and a few happy tears. Family is significant to both Riley and Diana. After the traditional dances, it was time to dance the night away and enjoy the live band.
