Weddings

When you fall in love, the world feels new. It's as if everything is happening for the first time. That's why we love photographing weddings. Each wedding has us falling in love over and over again—it reminds us that there is wonder and mystery in this shared life we all build together. The most aspirational thing to us is rekindling that initial spark of falling in love. We want to give you that experience with your wedding photos, perfectly captured and forever remembered. It's here, in our journal, we celebrate your love story so all can enjoy it.

Moments are made to last a lifetime, especially those involving amazing milestones! Finding the right photographers for your big day, or for life’s huge announcements, can be a challenge. Here are a few things to keep in mind, while shopping around for your photographers.

Meet and Greet

Set up a time to sit, face to face, with the photographers.  Get to know their likes and preferences.  All the while they should be asking you questions on how you envision the photos to turn out. If meeting in person is not a possibility, ask to set up a video chat.  The goal is to see if you are all in harmony with one another.  You should be able to let them know what your preferences are while listening to their suggestions and what they have to offer.

Look at Completed Photo Albums

Photographers work hard to build their portfolio, and they should be just as diligent on putting together breath-taking albums for their prospective clients.  There are glimpses of their work on social media sites such as Instagram and/or Facebook.  This is like the cake tasting of the visual arts. You can have a sample of what they offer, without the commitment.

While you are browsing their work, if you do not see something that you interested in, let them know.  Perhaps there is an idea that you have pinned on your Pinterest board and want to see if the concept can work for your special day.  Photographers are not mind readers but are curious as to what others may be seeking.

Read Before Signing

There are contracts to sign.  Make sure to read them through, prior to signing.  If it does not make sense, ask the photographer.  They want you to understand what you are endorsing.

Verify that you comprehend what can happen after the photos are completed.  Do you now own the rights to those pictures, or do they?  If you wanted to place them on social media, are you allowed without their consent?  Do you need to agree that the photos they take can be used in their future publications?  There are no questions too silly to ask.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Have a practice run through of the upcoming day.  The engagement session is a great way to do this.  Work out any kinks that may come up.  Ask the “what if” questions.  All the while remembering that they are the professionals. Hence the reason why you found them!  They know what shot works best.  Suggestions are welcome but do not waste your valuable time and effort into the portion that they have covered.  You have so much other good stuff to think about!  Have confidence in your photographers, as they are there to capture the memories that will last a lifetime.

If you have any doubt, contact Leidy and Josh. Living in Michigan, they understand that the weather can be fickle. This husband and wife team are there to help guide you through your picture-perfect day. You can view their online galleries, Instagram, and see their pricing.
