Photographing a wedding in a lavender farm has honestly been something on our bucket list since we honeymooned in Paris. Maybe it’s the sweet and distinct aroma or its calming hue. But there is something romantic about lavender that simply pairs perfectly with weddings. And let’s not forget that it photographs so well, too!

Early this summer, we photographed Mackenzie and Matt’s, “Just Married” portrait session at Shades of Lavender Farm in Mattawan, Michigan. It was so beautiful and when we posted the sneak peek on our social media, Racheal reached out to us letting us know of her connection with the owners! We were surprised and delighted to learn about their family ties to Shades of Lavender Farm.

Only weeks later, a new restriction was placed in Michigan precluding indoor wedding receptions affect Rachael and Zach’s wedding. We were half-serious when we suggested a plan to move to Shades of Lavender for an outdoor wedding instead. Well, that is exactly what ended up happening for Racheal and Zach! The result is the intimate lavender farm wedding that couldn’t have been sweeter. So many times we felt a swell of emotion behind our cameras as we captured every moment from start to finish. It truly is a small world and we are so grateful everything came together so beautifully for Rachael and Zach.
