We could hardly imagine a more quintessential Grand Rapids, Michigan wedding then a traditional catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Andrews. Starting with getting ready portraits at the beautiful Amway Grand Plaza followed by bride and groom portraits at The Civic Auditorium and ending with a swanky ballroom style dinner at The Gallery Divani, Keirsten and James’ wedding had all the fittings of the perfect Grand Rapids wedding. And if it wasn’t already stylish enough, Kiersten’s dad added his classic MG vintage car to the wedding. Honestly, we could photograph this wedding over and over again and be perfectly happy doing so!
While it was only a year ago, but it feels like it has been an eternity since we photograph Kiersten and James’s famous airplane hanger engagement session that was featured in several publications. Maybe it’s all the events that took place this year but it was so good to see the two of them again to celebrate their Cathedral St. Andrews wedding despite all the changes that took place.
Cathedral St. Andrews Wedding
The Cathedral of St. Andrews is positioned prominently downtown and can be seen when traveling through Grand Rapids. It’s shining Gothic style towers have inquired and called to us from the moment we started photographing weddings. We knew it was absolutely beautiful on the inside but weren’t ready for how majestic the Cathedral was from the inside. Pillars of white stone leading to a starry lit vaulted ceiling resembling the heavens. For 140 years the Cathedral of St. Andrews has been a center for worship and marriages in Grand Rapids. It truly been an honor to travel there to commemorate Kiersten and James’ wedding day.
