Belle Isle Detroit engagement sessions are some of our favorites. It’s truly a magical place. On Belle Isle, summer comes in her own time. She drifts in on a spring wind over the Detroit River, wakening with a soft warmth that washes over everything and takes root with weeds and grasses in the cracks of the pavement. It is always beautiful on Belle Isle, but it was made more majestic on Aubrey and Dominic’s engagement session by the colossal pillar of white and grey clouds. An ever shifting titan of light and shadow, sharply contrasted during it’s lumbering transit across the otherwise brilliant blue sky. Nothing could embody the spirit of that session more perfectly.
On Belle Isle, shining with purity, hope, and the promise of beautiful things to come was Aubrey and Dominic. Radiating with all of love’s splendor wrapped in the embrace of summer while sharply contrasted by the events just beyond the Isle. On that day, in Detroit, riots continued to roil and the unrest of a nation pushed to its breaking point was palpable. And there they were, Belle Isle on the Detroit River, the cloud in the blue sky, shifting from dark to light, light to dark. The perfect juxtaposition. And behind it all, the enteral warmth of the sun unfettered by the events that take up our day to day. Just like Aubrey and Dominic on Belle Isle, their love, ever present and unaffected. It was a reminder to us all that even though the world shifts and changes, love remains constant.
Love is always there and within us all. And no matter what clouds pass our way, our love will always win and shine through.
